Andrew Renck is a 2003 University of Miami graduate. In 2000, while attending the university, Renck created his computer consulting firm Rootpoint. Renck is an ethical hacker and has provided services for both offensive and defensive cybersecurity projects. Teddy Solano is a Network Engineer at Webpass by Google, a US Air Force reservist, and proud father. He has always been interested in computers and how they work. After graduating from high school, Solano enlisted in the Air Force and began his military career. An airman during the day and a student by night, Solano graduated with his Associates Degree in IT and finished his active duty commitment. He then transitioned to the United States Air Force Reserves as a Systems Administrator. Solano graduated from Florida International University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees while working full-time. He holds multiple certifications. Christopher Huss has years of experience in the cybersecurity industry. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major of Management Information Systems and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Florida International University. His adventure in technology started with designing gaming computers in high school. Huss’ interest and capability eventually prompted Huss to manage a LAN of 40 computers before graduating high school. During college, Huss started his own computer management and network design company. Huss eventually transitioned to Voice over IP, Video IP, IP Camera Systems, IP Access Control Systems, and Wireless Solutions. Huss adapts and evolves with the cyber threat landscape; networking has drastically changed and now encompasses a multitude of different devices, which has broadened his understanding of different systems.
Brandon Marrero is an IT Systems Administrator with nearly a decade of industry experience. He specializes in server/network administration, virtualization, storage, OS servers, switches, and firewall/VPN configuration and administration. Marrero worked in an emergency management and disaster recovery capacity, rebuilding infrastructures severely damaged by Hurricane Irma. Jorge Berrios has over eight years of experience in the defense and automotive retailing industries. Mike Wilburn is a veteran network and security architect of 28 years. Mike has held numerous top-level industry certifications from a large list of equipment vendors, including Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft, and VMware. He broke into IT with a position at Dell Computer Corporation in the early 1990s, and advanced into networking and security architecture and engineering positions with several major telecom companies, tier-1 ISPs, college campuses, and large enterprise networks throughout his career. Mike has always taken personal satisfaction from sharing his knowledge with others, which led him to his first official teaching role as a certified instructor of Juniper Networks curriculum in 2011, which continued until 2016. He currently is responsible for the data networks at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has recently joined the University of Miami to share his knowledge and experiences with those who intend to pursue careers in networking or network security.
Leandro Iacono was born in Syracuse, NY, but lived, studied, and worked in Argentina for many years, making him fluent in Spanish and an avid, passionate Argentina Soccer fan. As for his looks and talent, some might mistake him for the actor Jack Black, but as he repeatedly assures everyone, he's a much better actor. Leo enjoys sports, loves anything tech-related, recently started to tinker with crypto and blockchain, and has recently started his journey as a boater. He is currently a Solutions Architect at CrowdStrike. He previously held positions with Tanium and had a 12-year career at Microsoft. Juan worked for the Inter-American Development Bank as Project Manager in the implementation of a campus-wide voice and data network at his alma mater. At the same time, he led the implementation of a campus-wide security system. He has held managerial positions in the Information Technology field at several multinational organizations related to banking, Information Technology services, and mobile communication, heading the execution of security-related projects. Most recently, he served as Under Secretary of Security and Information for the Executive Branch of the Government of Ecuador, responsible for the implementation of cybersecurity projects at the highest level. Juan received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Escuela Superior Politecnica (ESPOL) in Ecuador and a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
Dwayne Cole has over 25 years of industry experience. He has worked as an engineer and/or consultant in the aerospace, education, finance, banking, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors. Cole has been managing IT training classrooms since 2002, when he managed a post-secondary IT training program. Cole has served as an Infrastructure Project Manager for a high-frequency trading firm on Wall Street, and most notably, the Kellogg Company in Chicago. Cole presently runs his own private consultancy, which specializes in IT automation and business intelligence for companies all over the US.
Charles Strother is a USMC veteran with nearly two decades of experience in the Information Technology industry, with more than 19 years of experience in knowledge transfer and training. Strothers began his career owning and operating his own Wi-Fi company, which de-wired cities in North Carolina. In a career pivot, Strother changed industries and began focusing on his passion, information security, where he built his portfolio working for companies like Palo Alto Networks and VMware. In addition to information security, Strother attributes his second passion to education and teaching the next generation of cybersecurity specialists.
Alejandro Leal is originally from Venezuela and currently works for Amazon Web Services (AWS) as Technical Account Manager handling large enterprise accounts. Before that, he worked for Microsoft for 15 years, holding various positions ranging from field engineer, consultant, and tech lead, to support escalation engineer in the Azure Rapid Response team. In 2008, Leal decided to move to the United States in search of new professional challenges. Since then, Leal has focused his whole career on infrastructure and security and has a deep interest in OS. He even has a small collection of 30+ VMs running various operating systems! In his spare time, Leal enjoys barbecues, running, cycling, swimming and serving others. He is happily married to a wonderful woman and has two lovely daughters, as well as a dog.
